PREMIERSHIP PLAY-OFFS UPDATE

REVISED details can now be confirmed for the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership play-offs following the postponement of Monday’s semi-final at Leicester.

With the Lions’ opponents Sheffield electing to retain their regular home race night this week, the Tigers will stage what has become the first leg on Thursday September 18.

The second leg of the semi-final will be at Leicester on Monday September 22, whilst Thursday September 25 will be held as a reserved date. The Grand Final will not start on this date.

There is then a break for the FIM Speedway of Nations, with the Grand Final to take place on Monday October 6 (at Sheffield or Leicester) and Thursday October 9 (at Ipswich).

Premiership CEO Phil Morris said: “It isn’t ideal either way, but we felt that running the Grand Final in the same week was a preferable option to splitting it and having a ten-day gap whilst the SON takes place.

“This also enables us to put in a reserved date next Thursday should the weather intervene at either Sheffield or Leicester, and we also have Monday October 13 available if the Final itself is delayed.

“I’d like to thank the three clubs involved, including Ipswich, and our broadcast partners TNT Sports for their co-operation in agreeing to the revised schedule.”
